STQK: Suldokar's Wake Map and Setting

New to the ongoing blog series called STQK "Would you like to know more?"

Hello there,

Finally getting my notes in order and placing it on the website. I am going to continue our campaign with a little introduction to the Suldokar's Wake setting then tie in new PCs with our existing Gamma World PCs.

Introduction to the Setting

Suldokar's Wake is set on a planet named Zira-Ka, once a prosperous planet for its rich mining ore called frontanium. During its lifetime Zira-Ka was once a prison planet and is now inhabited by waring city states wanting to claim dominance, until a looming alien invasion takes over.

The technology is re-cycled through cultures of the planets past. Machines called nanites is one such technology that is still used today. These nanites scatter the planet's atmosphere with the purpose to repair and maintain buildings/items. It was once used for defense but no longer has that function.

Scattered around the planet's surface are entities called Colossi. These beasts are sometimes mistaken for rock formations or overgrown ruins. Massive in size and once thought to be intelligent, no living person has confirmed those details and are still trying to solve their mysteries. Monkeys have a sort of mythical attachment to colossi and live in tribes around them. For one reason or another they protect the Colossi from intruders but also preserve them by filling in cracks with rock or mud before ice can settle and destroy the colossi's exterior.

Within the northern region of the planet the Vatori Empire lays dominate. Tracing its history back to when the planet was a prison; this New Empire uses its resources for military force to control the population. The state religion is called the Watchful Eye where the masses are controlled through a social construct.

The Cradle-Arkaven-Federation is a group of waring city states that has opposed the Vatori Empire during most of its existence. Located south of the Hynian Mountains with the Umberzone nestled between each state; only a monorail connecting each part of the federation. This strategic position is the only thing holding the Vatori Empire at bay.

Unfortunately, the Umberzone is not a place where things go to live. This cold dark snowy environment is home to many mysteries like shadow encounters or unimaginable plants/animals. A person can get radiation sickness or gain strange effects from anything edible.

Side note for the System

This system uses an array of different terms ranging from attributes, experience tables, and even dice rolls.

Attributes Instead of having traditional terms like strength or wisdom, attributes are referred to as Stacks. PC stacks are distributed through Archive, Bulk, Ghost, Morph, Speed, and Tech.

Experience Tables After experiencing a shadow encounter (a primordial darkspace entity) of higher degree then current level dictates the PC can move horizontally or vertically on the graph and increase certain stats based on the new node.

Dice Rolls The most common roll is an inverted roll which is a roll with a d20 over a DC or within a safe span at the lower end of the dice spectrum. As well as this dice mechanic the book also provides its own dice which is something I really love and will be using through this playthrough!

Stay tuned for another episode in the STQK blog series.
